MAXIMILIANO GUERRA

Mine are the words of someone who has been revealed the glorious creativity of a first-rate composer like Enrique Roel.
Working with Roel has been a pleasure, not only because of the sensitivity and strength of a man entirely committed to his life and arts, but also because of his unequaled ability to play with notes and melodies and his profound regard for the beauties and powers of musical language, which gave him a clear understanding of my thoughts and reasons why Dr. René Favaloro deserved to be honored. All his abilities enhanced a creation that kept growing through our many ideas and the unique music and choreography that has turned this into one of those works that will long be talked about.
By-Pass is the result of a joint effort at the distance - Roel in Buenos Aires and me in Stuttgart, Germany – that grew day by day with a fluent communication of ideas, times, rhythms and mainly, the deepest love for our singular way of creating.
Roel was able to understand the first words that came out of my mouth, totally from my imagination, and pass them to melodies that meant and symbolized all my feelings.
Is there anything else I can say about this talented artist that hasn’t already been said? Roel’s works embrace more universality and significance than its own tangible essence, as is the case of every great composer.
I dare say his work will be everlasting, and will timely earn its place in history.
It has been a great pleasure for me to have the possibility of working with this excelled composer, and also to share part of his life as a friend.
In my opinion, he is the best composer of contemporary music in Argentina as well as a great person. Let us then feel his humanity in the essence of his music.

Buenos aires, March 6 2006

It is since our first encounter in 2000 for the creation of the “by-pass” ballet —whose music was written by maestro enrique roel— that i haven’t been able to find the right words to express my admiration for roel’s compositions and the human kindness reflected in his work.

Soon after our families met, and knowing the greatness of this composer, i found out that he is a great orchestra conductor endowed with solid perseverance, finesse in conducting, and a great sense of interpretation within an ample range of different styles.

Undoubtedly, we are in presence of a musician who cannot only move audiences’ with his creative touch but also motivate the performers of the orchestras under his conduction with his masterful baton, and it is through this sensitivity that he makes music be perfect but not any less uninspired.
